Controvo vs Sikurd: An Honest Comparison
We make Controvo, so assume we're not neutral. Everything below about Sikurd is checkable at sikurd.com right now, and we'd rather tell you where they win than pretend they don't.
Sikurd runs comparison pages against a handful of other 3CX tools. As far as we can tell, they don't have one about us, so we wrote the side-by-side ourselves. MSPs comparing 3CX tools deserve a fair look at both, and we think we can survive an honest one.
We're not going to pretend we sat down neutral. We build Controvo, we've spent three years on it, and we'd obviously rather you pick us. But we also manage hundreds of 3CX systems for clients of our own, and every comparison page that ever helped us pick a tool was one that admitted the other option had real strengths. So that's the standard we held this page to, row by row.
If you finish this page thinking "huh, they were straight with me about where Sikurd wins," we did our job. If you spot something that's out of date or just wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
The Short Version
Sikurd is a young, fast-moving RMM built specifically for 3CX, with a free tier that covers your first three instances. Its flagship feature is verified backups: restore-tested, with public tamper-evident certificates you can hand a client. It leans hard into 24/7 health monitoring and PSA integrations.
Controvo is a complete management platform for 3CX resellers, not an RMM with extra screens. The point is that your team does the day-to-day work in Controvo instead of the 3CX console: extensions, ring groups, queues, IVRs, call flows, DIDs, handsets and prompts, across every instance from one place. Monitoring is the floor. Policy, drift detection and templates are the safety net underneath the changes, not the product.
The two products aren't really solving the same problem. Sikurd's center of gravity is backup verification and alerting: it tells you when something is wrong, and then you go and open the 3CX console. Ours is running the fleet, so the work happens in Controvo and your senior engineer stops being the only person who can safely be trusted with an admin password. Both are legitimate ways to think about managing 3CX at scale. They just point in different directions.
Feature by Feature
| Category | Controvo | Sikurd |
|---|---|---|
| Replaces the 3CX console for daily work | Yes, and not a copy of the console. Built for tier-one and tier-two techs to work in instead of 3CX: extensions, ring groups, queues, IVRs, call flows, DIDs, handsets and prompts, across every system, with permissions you control. Bulk where 3CX makes you repeat yourself, features 3CX has retired put back, and tools 3CX never had | No. It tells you something is wrong, and then you open the 3CX console to fix it |
| Guardrails on shared and multi-tenant systems | Yes. Work stays scoped to the tenant you meant, and the problems that only appear once you consolidate are surfaced per tenant. This is what makes handing daily work to a tier-one tech reasonable rather than brave | Not offered |
| Pricing model | $1.25 per simultaneous call, per month, everything included. Automatic volume discounts from 200 SC, reaching 35% on the largest fleets (full table). Free for education and non-profit. 60-Day Exit Right on the first annual term. | First 3 instances free. $10 per instance, per month after that. |
| Free tier | No | Yes, first 3 instances |
| Monitoring and alerting | Every threshold is yours to set, and so is how each alert is shaped and delivered. Covers CPU, RAM, disk, latency, jitter and license expiration | Yes, 24/7 health scoring with AI voice-call alerts |
| Backups | Back up the whole fleet in one action, one-off or recurring, with alerts when a backup is missing and restore from the Controvo UI in a couple of clicks. Backup files stay in your environment; Controvo never stores them | Restore-tested with public tamper-evident certificates; stored off-site by Sikurd |
| Policy engine and drift detection | Yes, with auto-remediation | No |
| Configuration templates | Yes | No |
| PSA integrations | ConnectWise (bi-directional) | Autotask, ConnectWise, HaloPSA, Syncro |
| Native mobile apps | No | Yes |
| Phone and hardware asset tracking | Yes, including leased HaaS hardware | No |
| Onboarding | Hands-on, with a human | Self-serve |
| Support | Access to our Slack channel plus private DMs with the developers, with no ticket queue and no tier-1 script. Answers usually within hours, including evenings and weekends. Every partner is in the same channel, so partners answer each other too. | Email, replies "within one business day". Phone Mon–Fri, 9–6 Eastern, out-of-hours to voicemail |
Every row above is something you can verify at sikurd.com and on our own pricing page.

What Partners Said in Public
This is the part we would find hardest to fake and easiest for you to check. When we announced general availability on the 3CX community forum, partners replied under their own names and company names. We did not ask them to.
"Controvo is a game changer. The most impressive thing about Controvo isn't a particular feature or tool, but instead how responsive the dev team has been."
"I have been using it in the pilot program and it has been very nice to manage the whole customer base in one place."
"Controvo as a platform is fantastic and their support thus far has been second to none."
The whole thread is public on 3CX's community forum, replies and all.
Where Sikurd Is Genuinely Better
No hedging here. These are real advantages, and we'd be lying if we said otherwise.
- Price, on a busy system. Their flat per-server rate beats our per-call rate once a system is busy, and a free commercial tier beats it outright. If you're managing one to three 3CX instances and every dollar counts, free is free. We do run Controvo free for education and non-profit, but we have no commercial equivalent, and we're not going to pretend that doesn't matter to a lot of resellers.
- Four PSA integrations against our one. Sikurd connects to Autotask, ConnectWise, HaloPSA, and Syncro. We only connect to ConnectWise today. If your ticketing runs on one of the other three, that's a real gap on our end.
- Native mobile apps. Sikurd has them. We don't, yet.
- Restore-tested backup certificates. Credit where due: restoring a backup to prove it works and handing the client a tamper-evident certificate is a clever idea. We don't offer anything like it, and that's a deliberate choice rather than a missing feature (our reasoning is below), but if vendor-verified restores are exactly what you want, Sikurd built it and we didn't.
Where Controvo Is Genuinely Better
A policy engine with drift detection. Set your configuration standard once, as a policy, and apply it to any system. Controvo then watches every system against that standard on an ongoing basis. When something drifts, whether it's a codec setting a tech changed during a support call or a call recording checkbox that got left in the wrong state after a troubleshooting session, you find out, and you can choose to have Controvo revert it automatically instead of waiting for a client to notice first. Sikurd doesn't have a policy engine or drift detection today.
How the policy engine works →- Backups that never leave your infrastructure. Controvo sets up 3CX backups by policy and tells you whether they ran, but the backup files stay in your own environment and your own storage. We never store the payloads. That's deliberate: your clients' phone system data is yours to hold, and we don't think an RMM belongs in the middle of it. If handing backup custody to a vendor gives you or your compliance team pause, this is the difference that matters.
- Configuration templates, so new deployments start from your standard instead of a blank system.
- Phone and hardware asset tracking, including leased hardware, which matters if you run a HaaS program alongside 3CX.
- Hands-on onboarding with an actual person, instead of a self-serve signup form.
- Pricing that follows call volume, not server count. If you manage a lot of small systems, per-instance pricing adds up fast. Our $1.25 per simultaneous call tracks how busy your fleet actually is, not how many servers you run.
And then there's the track record. Controvo was built by a Platinum 3CX partner that ran it on hundreds of its own systems before opening it up to anyone else. It's three years in the making, backed by more than six months of rigorous pilot testing with real MSPs and eighteen months of public release notes you can scroll through yourself, plus an independent penetration test (details on our battle-tested page). Our pilot partners range from boutique two-person shops to Titanium 3CX Partners; you can read about that program on our partners page.
Which One Should You Pick
Honestly, it depends on what you're managing and what you care about most right now.
Managing one to three systems and watching costs closely? Sikurd's free tier is hard to argue with. Take it.
Running deep PSA workflows on Autotask, HaloPSA, or Syncro? Sikurd fits better today. We only integrate with ConnectWise right now, so if your ticketing lives elsewhere, that alone might settle it.
Enforcing a configuration standard across dozens of client systems, running HaaS hardware, or wanting a human to walk you through onboarding instead of a signup form? That's the job Controvo was built for.
Not sure which camp you're in? Sikurd's free tier makes it cheap to find out firsthand: it costs nothing to run it against a handful of systems and see how the alerting and backup verification feel day to day. We'd rather you go in with real experience of both than take our word for either one.
Plenty of MSPs could reasonably run either one. This isn't a matchup with an obvious winner across the board. The two products are built for different shaped businesses, and which one fits yours depends on which of the tradeoffs above you'd rather live with.
