Key takeaways:

  • We make one of the options on this list (Controvo), so we’re saying that up front and telling you where the others are the better fit
  • If you need a CRM connected to 3CX, start with Evolute I.T.
  • If you want a large catalog of ready-made add-ons, look at VoIPTools
  • For call center reporting and wallboards, JEDWare and Call Center Dashboards are built for exactly that
  • Controvo builds self-service portals, basic tools, integrations and basic reports for MSPs, on top of the platform they already use to run their 3CX fleet

A Quick Disclosure

We build Controvo, so a “best of” list from us deserves some suspicion. Every claim below about another company comes from that company’s own site or its posts on the 3CX community forum, and each section links to its source so you can check it. We last checked everything in October 2026. If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us and we’ll fix it.

The Short Version

Most custom 3CX requests fall into one of four buckets. Each has a company that specializes in it with a ready-made product, and Controvo can build a basic version of any of them to order for partners on the platform.

  • Connect 3CX to a CRM or business app: Evolute I.T.
  • Add a feature 3CX doesn’t have (dialers, paging, on-call, recording tools): VoIPTools
  • Reporting and wallboards for a call center: JEDWare or Call Center Dashboards
  • Give a client’s staff a simple way to change one thing without a ticket to their MSP, or any of the above built to fit a specific client: Controvo

Evolute I.T.

Evolute I.T. (formerly ConceptsWeb) is a Canadian company that builds CRM integrations for 3CX. Its connectors install through the standard 3CX CRM integration settings and cover CRMs and business apps that 3CX doesn’t support out of the box, including NetSuite and Bullhorn. It also offers a Gong add-on for call logging, and it builds new connectors on request. (Source)

Choose Evolute if your request starts with “we need 3CX to talk to our CRM.” That’s their focus, and they’ve been doing it for years.

VoIPTools

VoIPTools, a US company, has one of the largest add-on catalogs for 3CX: more than 30 tools covering wallboards, dialers, recording management, on-call services, emergency notifications, overhead paging and reporting, all available under one subscription. They also take on custom development when nothing in the catalog fits, and they offer hosting. (Source)

Choose VoIPTools if you want an add-on that already exists and can be turned on today, or a custom feature that will run alongside a single 3CX system.

JEDWare

JEDWare is built in Europe by a 3CX partner that has been working with 3CX since 2009. It focuses on reporting: live wallboards, dashboards, scheduled reports, queue chat across channels, and a statistics API you can connect to Power BI or Excel. There’s a 14-day free trial. (Source)

Choose JEDWare if you run call center queues and need agents and managers to see what’s happening live. It’s a product rather than a custom development service.

Call Center Dashboards

Call Center Dashboards is a US company that builds online dashboards, analytical reporting and wallboards for 3CX. It also offers database and API access so customers can extend the data themselves. (Source)

Choose Call Center Dashboards if you want reporting hosted for you and the option to build on top of the data.

Controvo

Controvo is a management platform for MSPs that run 3CX for their clients. Day to day, partners use it to monitor and manage their whole fleet without logging into each 3CX system. Because Controvo already handles the systems, the sign-in and the permissions, we can also build custom tools on top of it for a partner’s clients: self-service portals, basic tools, integrations with the apps a client already uses, basic reports, and fixes for the workflows that keep breaking. Most of what a tool like this needs already exists in Controvo, so building one is mostly designing the screen your client will use. That’s why it takes days rather than a development project. Custom tools are available to partners whose systems are on Controvo, and each request is scoped individually.

Two recent examples:

  • Department announcement switcher. A partner’s client wanted to change a department’s message whenever plans changed. Their staff now type the new message and turn it on or off themselves, and those requests stopped reaching the partner.
  • Outbound caller ID switcher. A partner’s client needed their team to show different numbers on outbound calls. They now pick the number from one simple screen.

The client sees one screen that does one job. They never see the phone system, and every change goes through Controvo’s permissions and audit log.

Choose Controvo if you’re an MSP and you want custom work built on the platform you already run, whether it’s a self-service screen, a basic tool, an integration or a basic report. If you want an off-the-shelf CRM connector or a full call center reporting suite you can switch on today, the specialists above already have one.

How to Choose

Start with who will use the result.

  • Your client’s staff, for one specific change: a small client-facing tool (Controvo)
  • Something specific to one client that no product covers: custom work (Controvo)
  • Your client’s sales or support team, inside their CRM: a CRM connector (Evolute I.T.)
  • Supervisors watching queues: reporting and wallboards (JEDWare, Call Center Dashboards)
  • The phone system itself needs a new capability: an add-on (VoIPTools)

Then ask any vendor three questions before you commit: what happens to the tool when 3CX releases a major update, who supports it when it breaks, and whether you can see something similar they’ve already built.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can 3CX be customized? Yes. 3CX supports CRM templates and APIs, and several companies build add-ons, integrations and custom tools on top of them. What’s possible depends on your 3CX version and license.

Can I let a client change their own 3CX announcement or office hours? Not safely from the 3CX console, because it gives access to far more than one setting. A small tool limited to that one change is the safer way to do it, and it’s the kind of thing Controvo builds.

Can users switch their outbound caller ID in 3CX? It depends on how the system is set up. A simple switcher lets staff pick the right number without an admin changing settings for them.

Who builds custom 3CX integrations? For off-the-shelf CRM connectors, Evolute I.T. For a catalog of add-ons, VoIPTools. For self-service portals, basic tools, integrations and basic reports built on a platform an MSP already runs, Controvo.
