Key takeaways:
- The top-bar search field now finds objects across your entire fleet, not just the page you’re on.
- Ten object types are searchable: extensions, phones, DIDs, SIP trunks, ring groups, call queues, IVRs, SBCs, contacts and locations.
- Results group by type, each with a direct link to the object’s editor or detail view.
- Type a name, number or extension and you get records; type a question and it goes to Controvo AI. The same field handles both.
- See all hands the term to the destination table, so the count you clicked is the count you land on.
”Which system is that extension on again?”
When you manage a lot of 3CX systems, half the day is spent finding the thing before you can fix it. A customer calls about extension 204. You know roughly which customer, maybe. You open their phone system, find the extension, and only then start on the actual problem. Multiply that by every DID, trunk, ring group and IVR you touch in a week and the finding adds up to real time.
The information was always in Controvo. It just lived behind whichever screen you had to navigate to first. If you were on the wrong page, search only knew about that page.
What shipped
The search field in the top bar now looks across the whole fleet. Type a name, an extension, or a phone number and Controvo returns matching records from anywhere you have access: extensions, phones, DIDs, SIP trunks, ring groups, call queues, IVRs, SBCs, contacts and locations. Ten object types, all from one box.
Results come back grouped by type, so you can see at a glance that “204” matched an extension here and a DID there. Each result links straight to that object’s editor or detail view, so finding it and opening it are one step, not two.
The same field also answers questions
The top-bar field is also where you ask Controvo AI. So it does the sensible thing: type something that reads like a record, a name or a number, and you get records back; type something that reads like a question and it goes to the assistant. You don’t switch modes or pick which kind of search you meant. One field, and it works out what you’re after.
The count you click is the count you get
Hit See all on a result group and Controvo hands the search term to that object’s full table, matched the same way the search panel matched it. The number you clicked and the number you land on agree, because they’re produced by the same rule rather than two lookups that drift apart.
Why this matters
Search is one of those features you don’t think about until it’s wrong, and then it’s maddening. A search that only knows about the current page trains you to navigate first and search second, which is backwards. Making one field find anything across the fleet, and turning every result into a direct link, takes a step out of nearly every troubleshooting task you do. The bigger the estate you run, the more that adds up.
Try It
Global search is available now in Controvo. Open Controvo and start typing in the top-bar field: a number, a name, or a question. Not in the pilot? Apply for early access.
